5 Things to Do the Night Before Your Wedding

Must-know tips night before your Wedding Day

The wedding is so close, “what am I forgetting?!” Well, chances are there are still a few things that could use your attention. Take a deep breath. Let’s focus on a handful of commonly forgotten night-before tips that will help you to feel at ease.

These truly are the must-know Night Before Your Wedding tips.

Clean Your Ring

By now, you’ve googled “how to clean your engagement ring” at least once or twice. Fill a coffee mug 2/3 of the way with very warm water and add 5-10 drops of a mild dish soap. My personal favorite is Mrs. Myer’s Dish soap. Let it soak for at least 20 minutes. Then use a toothbrush to gently brush away any loosened debris, being mindful of avoiding too much contact with the metal. You can do this the night before the wedding or even the morning of!

You should never use household cleaners such as bleach, chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, and acetone. Also, avoid ultrasonic cleaning as a regular maintenance cleaning method. And don’t stress about having it professionally cleaned before the wedding.

Pack your overnight Bag

The first thing is to designate a bridesmaid as your personal attendant. It should be someone who is not family, but is in the wedding party. They’ll be responsible for moving your overnight bag + your day-of bag. They’re also the perfect person to actually look for touchup moments where you may need some more gloss or added color. Brides always forget this and I wish I’d planned for this on my own wedding day. The emergency kit should include things like shout wipes, safety pins, super glue*, band-aids or any blister care, and Advil. But also things like tweezers, scissors, and a lint roller.

Packing List for Wedding

  1. Any outfit or shoe changes + jewelry
  2. Touchup Makeup – lip gloss, q-tip, blush, setting spray or powder, etc.
  3. Emergency Kit items – shout wipes, extra pins for boutonnières, safety pins, etc.
  4. Moisturizer, deodorant, perfume, Aquaphore

  5. Curling Iron for touchups
  6. Underwear for wedding day, dancing, and the next day
  7. Day-after clothes & comfy pjs* treat it like you’re going away for the whole weekend

Write a Love Note

This tip is important because no matter who you are, the wedding night and morning of are always a bit anxiety-inducing. Some couples aren’t used to being the center of attention, or maybe you are a bride stressing out over “will it all get done” before ceremony. Regardless, writing this note now will help you. Don’t seal it quite yet.

Tomorrow, take a quick read and remind yourself exactly why you are marrying your soulmate. Trust me, the writing will make you feel better and re-reading it will make your heart content the next morning.

Beauty Tips

Do NOT exfoliate or Microderm the night before (or even the days leading up). Before you get started on makeup, apply sunscreen! You can use the Mayo Clinic’s app for checking clean ingredients, but I love my Clinique brand sunscreen. Use a gentle cleanser on your face the night before and morning of, consider using just cold water if you have combination or dry skin. For oily skin, totally use that gentle cleanser morning of as well.

A lot of bride remember to get their nails painted, but forget to do their toes. Take a second to think through your shoe choice and if you’ll need your nails painted.

Night before tips to fall asleep

  1. Take a sleep aid (even if you don’t think you need to) try Melatonin Gummies
  2. Clean pillow cases for great skin
  3. Have a sleepover with your sister, sister-in-law, or Maid of Honor (it helps not being alone)
