Laine + Danny: Refuge Golf Club Wedding

LAINE + DANNY

Find a love that is built on intention, choice, and rooted in trust. Laine + Danny have this and I am just so grateful to have been a witness to this love — this act of choosing one another this day and every day after. Laine + Danny were wed amongst all of their family and friends at St. Joseph’s Parish Community in New Hope, MN. The day was rainy, but they say rain on your wedding day is a blessing. Based on how stunning these photos turned out, I’d say it was a blessing indeed.

Rain On Your Wedding Day

So many people are afraid of even a little rain on their wedding day, but any bride who isn’t afraid to get a little down and dirty is a photographer’s dream bride. Overcast or a cloudy day actually make for some of the best photos. There’s such a difference in the air and the styling really speaks for itself. I had never shot in the rain before and was so glad to be working with Tiffany Kokal, a real champion of the rain. She made photographing in the cold and rain actually enjoyable.

I decided to put together this article about How to Prepare for Rain on your Wedding Day to summarize my day’s experience and all that I had learned: Rain on Your Wedding Day.

The rest of the day was perfect with the rain even holding while we captured more couple and wedding party photos. Then, we took the party bus to The Refuge Golf Course in Oak Grove, MN. The reception was stunning thanks to Kindred Blooms – seriously gorgeous peonies and ranunculus flowers. The rest of the night was spent with toasts, laughter and some late night dance moves. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day:
